The measure of a man...

“The true measure of a man is not his intelligence or how high he rises in this freak establishment.

No, the true measure of a man is this: how quickly can he respond to the needs of others and how much of himself he can give.”

– Philip K. Dick

Success...

“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”

– Winston Churchill

News Of Iggy Makarevich

The latest on what’s happening around here.

August 11, 11 - The only big news to speak of is the dropping of the name IFM Productions. I am now just me. Still a freelancer and still seeking new projects, just without the paperwork and tax burdens of being a “business entity.” It feels kinda good, actually. Wondering about tax time being back as a mere citizen, but it should be alright I imagine.

Caring for my sweet old, dementia-ridden aunt has pretty much taken over as the full-time gig, but the hours while she is at day care would be better spent creating something nice for some firm or person... seems ever more difficult to get any notice, though. She is going into a nursing home at some point in the near future and I am not at all sure of what will happen then. Wish me luck... and... if at all possible... hire me!

I have added a Web Design Resources page accessible from the vertical menu on the left that will feature all manner of cool things for web designers and developers to check out, leaving the Useful Things page to focus on other neato things I’ve found for general interest.

For transparency, some of the links on both pages, but not all of them by any means, are affiliate links which would benefit me to a certain degree without any added cost to the consumer.

Very old gigs:

  • I have, of late, been tutoring a wonderful local fellow in the ins and outs of HTML. He hired me to augment and demystify the class he is taking at the Norwalk Community College. We are both finding it rather enjoyable.

  • Built a new ecommerce website for Preferred Pet Products, Inc. of Stamford, Connecticut and I’m really quite excited about it!

  • Built a new website for Rodolfo Comas’ Interpreter’s Accent of Redding, Connecticut!

  • The Greenwich Colon Hydrotherapy website got a bunch of new content and pages... I converted a 20 minute DVD for use on it too!

  • The new website for AQUIDNECK BUILDING MOVERS & RIGGERS, INC. of Portsmouth, Rhode Island is done!

  • The website for the recently founded League of Western Fortean Intermediatists was done on schedule for its February launch. It features an interactive map that links to the 13 regional blogs currently set up that complement the main site’s content. I also made a custom WordPress theme for the blogs so they look like no other blogs.

  • Now complete is major video project for Greenwich Rolfing, which involved extracting Rolfing-related footage from an interview done a while ago at Craig's office by the Mets Weekly TV series and cutting it into a finished piece of 35 minutes on a DVD... and then dividing that into 3 pieces for display on the website, which was the original idea. Much rendering and big fun!

  • A while ago I made a custom DVD for a local man featuring footage and stills of his young son, who is quite a remarkable hockey star, I must say... I’ve no doubt he’ll wind up leading an NHL team to glory...

  • Greenwich Colon Hydrotherapy offers up colonic irrigation using the gentle gravity method while educating you and guiding your path to a renewed vitality free of toxins. The practice is in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, led by Kelly McCoy.

  • Greenwich Rolfing offers specialist bodywork known as Rolfing, after it’s creator, along with education in the way your body’s mechanics work with gravity in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. It's headed up by former Mets pitcher Craig Swan.

  • I’m well pleased to be selected as a new subcontractor for the prestigious design firm Abrams Associates Design of Cos Cob, Connecticut.

  • Damon Grant’s new site is up at damongrant.org with CSS navigation that uses JavaScript to recreate what once had been Flash. Check it out for the music, he’s a seriously talented percussionist who hails from Norwalk, Connecticut.

  • This Just In:

    Skylaire.com
, a new website built for Skylaire Alfvegren - yellow journalism, elfin magicphenomenally talented journalist, writer and author Skylaire Alfvegren, a specialist in film and music reviews for the mainstream and an expert in Fortean topics filling an esoteric niche, with clients like E! Online, iFuse, LA Weekly, Las Vegas Weekly, Las Vegas City Life and Steamshovel Press.

  • Recent gigs:
  • Some website updating and the company holiday card for the ecologically-savvy construction management firm Chandler, LLC of Greenwich, Connecticut.

•A special holiday page for AD|MAX of Dana Point, California.

  • Wrote the copy for the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce’s 90th Anniversary Directory pull-out and marketing brochure.

  • Made a 30 second Flash "commercial" for Egyptologist and guide John Anthony West’s Magical Egypt Tours website. Turned out nice...

  • Designed, built and published a website for a very cool Southern California merchant media and marketing solution provider called AD|MAX.

  • Wrote the content for a locksmithing security company’s new website and a press release for an telephone answering firm.
